A bare trust is a basic trust under which the beneficiary has the absolute right to the capital and assets within the trust along with any income generated. The assets are held in the name of a trustee, who has the legal responsibility of managing the trust assets in a prudent manner so as to generate maximum benefit for the beneficiaries or as lawfully directed by beneficiaries. Under the terms of the bare trust, the trustee has no discretion in investment selection.
